How to be consistent

Your biggest power in any thing meaningful and worthwhile comes from Power of Consistency.

Having been with some awesomely successful people and having had opportunities to observe them in very close proximity taught me exactly the same, what the original story of Tortoise and Rabbit is telling us from the time immortal.

Most successful people I have studied were consistent, patient and focused on long term impact. Their major focus was for winning the war rather than few battles. In fact, they let go of few battles in order to build momentum in the right direction.

I was addicted to the adrenaline that flows with ultra-fast driving, and as a result thereof got heavily fined by cops, but I found that even if I am driving at 120km/hour and those who were driving at say 80km/hour and whom I overtook, many managed to reach me at the next signal or the next break I took.

How many of you think about and how many of you spend your time, money, energies and efforts for

1.Instant weight loss
2.Instant name, fame, recognition
3.Becoming rich fast
4.Be the first in class without the mandatory inputs of time, effort, understanding, practice etc

5. Having that great figure or Hollywood actress beauty

6. Being happy and succeeding overnight

How many of you want success, results, changes fast, real fast in all aspects of your life.

Most people especially this generation are programmed by our society and education and the reality shows, to do things fast.

Wanting things/results/success/happiness fast actually does opposite.

The greatest problem with going fast is that for how long the machine [or yourself in life] can run at 150km/hour, before it gets heated up and needs refueling and recharge.

On the contrary going fast burns out your ability to run for longer duration.

Great Athletes follow the laws of consistency.

Financial wizards and fitness expert have always maintained that regular disciplined monthly investments and regular exercise routine of 30 minutes a day is always a big scorer in long run.

If you can please read "I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi" , "Common Sense on Mutual Funds by Jack Bogle", "The Millionaire Next Door" or books by globally acclaimed hall of fame athletes.

Warren Buffet is at the forefront of propagating this principle, incidentally as claimed by few articles, Warren Buffet made 99% of his money after the age of 60.

Intellectuals tend to spend more time imagining the future. They let the results that they have to accomplish and the obstacles overwhelm and intimidate them from being consistent.

Few so called Dumb people keep on moving, focusing on the regular and deal with the futures and obstacles as and when they come.

This is another reason for not being able to be consistent or giving up, which comes from being too much focus on the outcomes [to let them get overwhelmed by the magnanimity of the tasks or challenges] rather than on the process and actions.

How many of you have let go of opportunities for growth or even failed to continue with many important tasks/resolutions that later became severe pain in your life, because of inconsistency.

How many of you started with great passion for exercising, reducing weight options, actions for changing habits and attitude but fell back to your old routine, very soon.

I was the model of creating time-table for studies, but if anything, even very small deviation happened from my perfect time-table then I did not follow it for that day & you know it never happened that everything that I planned as per my time-table actually happened.

This perfectionism is another of the major challenges of being consistence.

Now how many of your parents said [and probably you are saying to your own kids], if you study regularly, you would do very well without stress.

I never really studied until the moment it could not be postponed further.

Have you ever wondered how some people achieve phenomenal amount of amounts of success, while most of us work harder and harder yet achieve very little.

This is another well-established myth that derails us, many times by telling us that, Only by working hard consistently You can get you that result/success/outcome.

Of course, hard work is required for anything worthwhile, but it is not only that.

To convince yourself for the Power of Consistency, please Identify a skill that you good at like playing instrument, dancing, cooking, a different language. Did you learn it overnight or within few days. No way.

If you are real good at anything it would have taken you maybe weeks and months and even years and you developed it because you practiced, failed, started again did that regularly.
